Ignorant post.
1. The current situation with ganking is stupid and very likely why sub's are declining and also why you're not getting better toys.
2. Solo is dead. Sure you can fly a frigate around and get 30 sec fights in a ship that costs less one of the hard points on a real ship. From gate PvP is consensual PvP due to the fact that frigates can almost always escape. Real EvE PvP is non-consensual and involves losses that hurt.
A few years ago I took a a couplr of 2 billion isk Proteus and a 1.5 billion isk pod to null solo and killed 31 players losing both ships and the pod. That's solo PvP. That's risk. That's harsh. Most importantly that's hand shaking seat of your pants PvP. Frigate PvP is not and if its the new definition of solo PvP then yes real EvE solo is dead.

Unfortunately no they didnt because you have no argument. You want to go jump in your little frigate risking nothing and pretending you're a hardcore EvE PvPr go ahead - the fact remains it takes more effort to recover from armor damage in WoW than it does to recover from a frigate loss.

Clue: you know the video of the guy in a small pulse fit Rohk who slaughters 8 players? No watch it. Now go check how many Rohks he lost before he found a corp that stayed in range the entire fight while they got slaughtered. Any decent pvpr getting hit by small pulse know optimal is around 5k and would moved to 10k and destroyed him without losing a single ship.

And Eve has many pod pilots who have decided "their" Eve is all about blowing up your shiny at whatever the cost.
Eve is like a game of chess where the chess club you belong allows tipping the board over for a small fee a legitimate move. How has a game like that survived for over a decade? When it means that there are greater challenges in such a game that makes it attractive to folks that like that extra level of play. You don't have to play at that level to enjoy Eve, just don't take it personally when the freedom of Eve play style means your labor fruits are stomped into mush on the way to the market. Think of those encounters with the players that want to stomp your fruit as an encounter with a boss mob who shares similar AI with you.
Survived? It stagnated. Yea there a subset of human being that play chess by tipping over a chessboard because they lack the skill to play chess. CCP made a big mistake by switching to catering for them.
Had CCP not made the move into the baby pool that attracted gankers and morons EvE would very likely have broken 1,000,000 subs or better.
